Every little pair of feet we cast is unique; they are made with the utmost care, incredible attention to detail and a little bit of magic. So we thought you might like to have a little look at how one of beautiful pieces is made. W&P’s Glass Baby Footprint Block:
From start to finish, our team works hard to ensure that every detail of your baby’s feet is captured. Each stage of production involves our craftsmen and women using their specialist skills to capture your baby’s footprints in glass. Our glass takes months to produce because the glass is heated and cooled very, very slowly to ensure a perfect finish. Such a delicate material needs plenty of TLC.And finally the big reveal! Once the glass has cooled, our team clean, polish, frost and finish the glass with your chosen engraving added for that special finishing touch!
Your unique crystal clear glass sculpture is complete so you can treasure those tiny feet always.

We have a team of casting artists all over the world who are specially trained to capture your beautiful family moments. Our casting artists have the pleasure of meeting families at the most precious of times, as they welcome you to the world of Wrightson and Platt. This month we introduce you to Karin, our New York Casting Artist.
Name: Karin Kimtis
Joined W&P: 2011
Location: New York City
How Karin became part of the team: We first met Karin when we took casts of her two children back in 2005 and 2007 when they were babies. When she received her sculptures and saw the quality of W&P’s work, Karin expressed an interest in becoming one of our casting artists. She has now been casting for us in the New York area since 2011 and has cast over 160 babies and children for us, with many customers returning as new members of the family arrive.
What does Karin do as a casting artist? Karin will come to your home in New York, and meet you and your family. She will bring a sample of the pieces we make so that you can take a look at the quality of the pieces we make, and choose the piece you would like from a wide selection of sculptures and jewellery in a range of materials including bronze, silver, gold and glass.
Karin will bring her casting kit to take casts of you and your family’s hands and feet using a harmless organic casting material called alginate. It is like a firm jelly so it is nice and gentle to use. The casting is very quick and once the casts are taken of your family, Karin will then ship them to W&P HQ in London. Once they arrive in London we will make your pieces in our studio and keep you posted about their progress before we package them up beautifully and ship the final pieces back to you to admire and enjoy with your family and friends.
If you are based in New York, you can book a casting appointment with Karin on 877-788-1615. You will be in very safe hands.
